Michael Schenker is so natural onstage that it is no surprise he been around, in one guise or another, since 1970. He makes playing in front of mammoth audiences seem effortless and the crowds love him for it.

This set includes all three of his favoured vocalists – Gary Barden, Graham Bonnet and Robin McAuley – as well as a kick ass band featuring Ted McKenna on drums and Chris Glenn on bass plus Steve Mann on guitar and keys.

The material on this set includes ‘Attack Of The Mad Axeman’ and a superb ‘Armed and Ready’ both featuring Bardens on vocals. Graham Bonnet appears on a vicious sounding ‘Assault Attack’ looking like one of the Godfathers as well as crowd favourite ‘Dancer’. Robin McAuley features on five numbers, the best of which is definitely ‘Save Yourself’.

Musically, it is what you would expect from Schenker; Rifferama and relentless pounding rhythms with some superb soloing.

The production is excellent, huge space around the stage and no end of Marshalls to put over crystal clear heavy rock.
The DVD is beautifully rendered and the two CD accompaniment sound positively sumptuous.

I have been a little scathing of Schenker on album in the past but this definitely shows that the songs work better live – a damn fine set and a must for Schenker fans.
